We have created this website in the hope that it will be a valuable resource for you all, providing you with a clear and comprehensive guide to all aspects of the game.
It's all my wife's doing. As I have found out over the years, almost all of the things I have done well are down to having her input. This must be true because she told me......
It all started back at Chrismas in 2014. I'd spent the previous month or so playing a game, Destiny, on my XBox One (always been a Sega / Xbox fan). My wife, a fellow gamer and die hard Playstation fan, had never had any interest in online PvP games, but had seen enough of this game that she decided she wanted to give it a go. So, come Christmas Day, i was unwrapping my very own PS4 and copy of Destiny too. I know, I'm a lucky man indeed, and this must also be true because she told me that as well. Now, for those of you who don't know anything about Destiny, you can play some of the content solo, some with two players, but the best parts needed teams of three or six; and as I was new to the PSN, I had a grand total of one friend. So, I used an in-game feature that allowed me to set up a Clan and post it on the game server where people who were looking to join up with others could find it. Requirements to join were set: Chilled out, friendly, relaxed, don't take the game too seriously, be at least 30 years old. I was 40 at the time, and therefore my sense of humour was a particular type of childish. It took less than a week to get all 100 member spaces filled, (there was a larger group feature as well that allowed 500 members that was more like a meeting place and we filled that in a month), such was the need for this type of group. Cav was the first to join, a guy from Yorkshire who married a lady from Texas and was living in Houston. Arc and Pixel were next, then Arc's father in law. We had Firebaby, a female firefighter from New York who swore more than anyone I've ever known. I could bore you and list all 98, and tell you about each and every one of them, they became my online family. We sent cards and gifts to Houston when Cav got T-Boned and badly hurt (mostly PG Tips and Rich Tea Biscuits). We all grieved when Arc's father in Law passed away, and to this day we take it in turns logging in to his account and keeping it active so it doesn't get deleted.
We've carried the name into other games, where possible, and taken the same Ethos with us. To most people, it's just a name, but to those of us who were there back at the start, it means more.
Ageless Guardians, we're family.
And with that, I'll pass you over to Windeh to say a few words on our Alliance. I really can't think of a better person to lead us into the next phases of the game, and I know the name is in safe hands.
Catch you on th flip side - Edge
In the words of Obi Wan Kenobi – Well hello there!
I was thinking “how do I write an introduction to what Age is now”, and it is difficult. That’s not because I’m ever short of words as anyone who knows me will tell you! So I thought to myself, lets start at the beginning:
There I was, sat down scrolling a certain social media site constantly seeing this advert for a game where you move soldiers around to shoot the monster at the end. Finally thought “yeah lets download it” and got into the game that is Last War! Ignoring the chat function for the first month was a thing I did, not knowing how to play the game properly was the other thing. Turns out I was not alone in this. Joining Age for me at the time was just an alliance that I did not quite understand, yet it had me hooked. We had the KZL adventure soon after this where a number of us joined KZL (this did not work out) but soon returned. A massive shout has to go to Georgi who kept the ship that is Age afloat at this time.
So here we were on the eve of season 1, Edge had left for his HW1 adventure, we didn’t really have a leader at Age as nobody wanted the R5 spot. That was the time I sent the message to Golf stating I will give it a go. We were a 26 player alliance at the start of season one, and this is where the real Age adventure began!
Here at Age we have a key principle – have fun! It is a game, yes a game that people pump an unimaginable amount of money into at times, but a game none the less. The aim is to help players grow, be active, and laugh at the mistakes everyone will make within the game itself. We always aim to win and be competitive as much as we can, but we are realistic. It’s more important to have a laugh whilst enjoying this game than anything else we say! This is the way we play the game, the way the R4’s run the alliance, and the way everyone always loses to me at the dice game! Anyway, the adventure, yes back to that……
I won’t bore you with all the details, but the first major step was when the Iron Legion alliance split and merged into the JHX system, and the remaining members became part of Age. As we progressed through the map we can across the alliance 317, after some discussions with Khooki at 317, they also came on board. Now we were sat at around 60 members and Age was expanding. Here we finished Season 1 well ahead of our expectations, gaining good rewards in what was (and lets be honest) a horribly designed season!
The end of Season 1 came about the big move with Age, we were to start working with JHX. As part of this we took on the remaining JHX2 members. This boosted us to a full quota of 100 members, and a top 10 spot! Age had hit the “big time” you might say. All this achieved whilst keeping to the key principle of having fun whilst we played the game. It can be done you know!
Season 2 saw us achieve a top 50 spot, and expand our power with members getting more involved and improving. An amazing last day battle with over 60 members online defending our furnace against a much stronger enemy. With the help of our allies we managed to be victorious, in what was genuinely the most enjoyable battle I have been involved in on this game!
So there you have it, the brief history since I have been R5 at Age. I can safely say if it wasn’t for the guys and girls here I would have stopped playing this game a long time ago. We have great members from R1’s through to the R4’s. Age is a fun filled alliance that focuses on enjoyment above all else, whilst playing the game properly. Last War is more than just a single alliance as well. Working with the entire server is key and we love to play our role in that. I am proud to take on this R5 spot and keep the name of Age going, as Edge says above it has some serious history. It's more than a name as far as these games go, its an identity.
Welcome to Age, come and join us, get involved, and most of all – enjoy! - Windeh
